mwbqCherax mwbgErichson, 1846 è un mwbwgenere di mwcacrostacei mwcqdecapodi acquatici appartenenti alla mwcgfamiglia mwcwParastacidae che ha il suo areale nel solo mwdaemisfero meridionale.

Attualmente, assieme a mwdgEuastacus, è anche il più grande genere di gamberi dell'emisfero meridionale. I suoi membri sono stati rintracciati nei mwealaghi, mweqfiumi e mwegruscelli principalmente in mwewAustralia e mwfaNuova Guinea.cite-ref-1[1] In Australia le molte specie di mwgqCherax presenti sono popolarmente chiamate, in mwgginglese, mwgwyabby e di queste quella più comune e maggiormente distribuita sul territorio è la Common yabby (mwhamwhqCherax destructor).
